Doug LaCombe
Doug is a 60-year-old lifelong resident of Acadia Parish and married to the former Wanda Miller. They have two adult children. Easton Joseph, a teacher at Iota Junior High, is married to Elizabeth Anne Thomas with a baby on the way. Their daughter, Patrice Ann, is a teacher at Midland High. LaCombe graduated from Iota High in 1980 and attended USL for two years before graduating from Southwest Vo–Tech (now SLCC) with a degree in accounting in 1984. He has been employed at Supreme Rice for the past eight years and the by-products manager.
Doug has been elected to the Acadia Parish School Board since 2006 before opting not to seek a fifth term in this past election. As an Acadia Parish School Board Member, he has served with pride on the personnel, insurance, curriculum committee, and chairman of the budget and finance committee. He has served as Vice-President and served two two-year terms as President. Doug was also elected to serve on the LSBA Board of Directors in 2015, representing District 3, LSBA Vice President in 2017, LSBA President-Elect in 2018, and LSBA President in 2019. While serving on the LSBA, he testified and legislated bills in Baton Rouge, testified in front of Congressional Committees in Washington, D.C., and testified in front of the National School Board Association in Philadelphia and Chicago. During his 16 years as your School Board Member, LaCombe worked hard to accomplish many needed improvements for our parish schools, students, and teachers.
